Step-by-step: Removal of Builder Gel, Polygel, and Rubber Base

    BRIEF AND IMPORTANT ABOUT PICKUP

NB. This guide is exclusively for the removal of products from The Gel Collection. If you use products from Makear, they cannot be removed with acetone, but must be filed off.

It is different how you take off nail products. Some types of products can be dissolved in an acetone-based liquid, while others must be filed off. At Neglefeber, with The Gel Collection, we have developed all our products so that they can be easily removed with Fast Acetone Remover . This is done to ensure a gentle method of removal – regardless of which product you use. Nevertheless, it is important that you pay attention to being gentle and follow our instructions to ensure a successful removal.

It is extremely important that you take care of your natural nails when you buy nail products. You must never scratch hard on either the product or the nail, and you must never file into the natural nail either. In addition, you must never force a product off by pulling, pushing or scraping hard. When the product is scraped off, it must be dissolved enough to be easily pushed off with a rose stick . If this is not the case, you must repeat the soak-off process. The most frequent cause of thin and damaged nails is improper removal. The ingredients and composition of the nail products cannot in themselves cause nail damage - it is the process surrounding the removal that is the cause. Therefore, it is extremely important that the removal is carried out gently and correctly - every single time.

The best way to ensure that you remove without damaging your own natural nail is to see our removal guide and follow our step-by-step guide. And if you have the slightest doubt about anything, you must finally contact us for advice.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR REMOVING BUILDER GEL, POLYGEL AND RUBBER BASE

    1) File off Top Coat, Gel Polish color and 80-90% of the gel product
When removing either Builder Gel or Polygel from The Gel Collection, it is necessary to file off 80-90% of the product first. The reason is that the products themselves have been developed to be so durable and strong that even acetone-based removal fluids have difficulty penetrating completely. So you want to go all the way down to the Base Coat (of course without filing all the way down to the natural nail). The products can e.g. file off with the 100 side of a 100/180 grit file or with an electric nail file . When using an electric nail file, you can use a coarse red (fine) or blue (medium) bit. Alternatively, a sand roller of between 100 - 180 grit.

    2) Apply Soak Off Wraps with Fast Acetone Remover
After the Top Coat and parts of the color are filed down, soak off wraps must be applied. Be sure to pour plenty of Fast Acetone Remover liquid on - preferably so that they are on the verge of dripping. Squeeze the completely wet Soak Off Wraps tightly around your fingers so that the liquid does not evaporate along the way. Let it work for approx. 10 minutes.

    3) Apply heat from a warm towel

If you want to ensure an even more effective solution, the hand can be wrapped in a warm towel (the towel may, for example, have been lying on a hot radiator five minutes before). The heat will give Fast Acetone Remover an even better opportunity to work optimally.

    4) Gently scrape off the dissolved product

After approx. After 10 minutes, you can remove a single Soak Off Wrap at a time and easily scrape off the dissolved product with a rose stick . If all fingers are unwrapped at once, the product will potentially harden again along the way - so remember to take one finger at a time. It is very important that you never force the product off. It should be dissolved enough to be scraped off with a light touch. Too violent a nail technique can cause damage to the natural nail, which must of course be avoided.

    5) Remove the last remnants
Small residues of product can possibly be carefully filed off with a 100/180 grit buffer , 220/240 grit file , or you can repeat the process with Fast Acetone Remover .

    6) Finish with nail oil
Wash hands and apply nail oil . The oil must be applied both at the cuticle and under the nail. Read more about daily nail care on page 22 of the Theory Book , or on our blog here .

    FACTS:
It is normal for one's nails to appear very soft immediately after removal. However, there is no need to worry. As oxygen is again supplied to the keratin cells of the nails, they will quickly become hard and strong again. This usually happens within 24 hours.
