Rules to remember when applying product

Sealing the Free Edge

When applying product to the natural nail, it is important to seal the free edge. Sealing the free edge means applying product all the way to the tip of the nail. This creates a seal on the exposed area at the tip of the nail. This minimizes the risk of liquids, oils, dirt, etc. from daily life getting between the nail and the product. The free edge should be sealed between each layer you apply to the nail.

If product flows under the nail while sealing the free edge, it can be beneficial to remove it with a Rosewood Stick, or a Micro Wipe Stick soaked with Cleaner+ before curing. Just be aware that only the product under the nail should be removed, not the product placed on the tip. Sealing the free edge is only important when applying product to the natural nail. It is less important when applying product directly to an extension, although it can still be done for cosmetic reasons.

Product Placement Away from the Skin
One of the most important rules to remember when applying nail products is to never let the product touch the skin. There are two main reasons for this. First, the skin continuously secretes fluids and oils. If a product touches the skin, there is an ongoing risk that fluids and oils can get under the product, causing lifting within a short time. Second, product on the skin increases the risk of contact allergies. If product gets on the skin, it is important to remove it as quickly as possible. This can be easily and effectively done by scraping the excess product off with a Rosewood Stick or a Micro Wipe Stick with Cleaner+.
