NAIL CARE AND NAIL BITING
Nail Care
It is important to maintain good nail care, so we would love to share how we recommend you take care of your nails with just a few simple steps. Imagine your nail is like a branch. If the branch is fresh and filled with natural moisture, you can easily bend it without breaking. However, if the branch is dry, it will easily snap under the slightest pressure. The same applies to nails. That's why it's crucial to keep your nails moisturized and cared for—especially when using nail products, as they can block the nails' natural oil supply. This natural oil provides essential vitamins and minerals that keep your nails strong and healthy, while also protecting against external risks. Nail care is therefore essential to ensure the longevity of any product and to maintain healthy nails.
For optimal nail care, apply cuticle oil twice a day. The oil should be applied both at the cuticles and under the nails. It's also important to keep your hands moisturized with a good hand cream.
Nail Biting and Picking
If you bite your nails or have a habit of picking at them, it can be very tempting to strengthen or extend your nails. In most cases, this is a good idea because applying a hard product to bitten or picked nails can prevent further damage and give your nails time to grow. However, there are a few things to be aware of to ensure you have a good experience with nail products.
The condition of bitten or picked nails can vary. Some people develop very thin and damaged nails, while others experience overproduction, leading to thickened nails.
If you have thin and damaged nails, you are more likely to experience lifting, as hard nail products may struggle to adhere to a soft and damaged nail. In this case, it's important to be extra patient with your nail prep and to schedule frequent refills. On the other hand, if you have overproduced nails, you're less likely to experience lifting issues, but you'll still need to be mindful of frequent refills, as the nails can grow faster.
A typical treatment for nail biters or pickers is to strengthen the natural nail with Builder Gel or create a short extension using Builder Gel on a classic tip. It is then recommended to schedule a refill every two weeks for the first 1-2 months, after which refills can gradually shift to the regular interval of 3-4 weeks.
Note that nail biting or picking can lead to infections. If you notice signs of infection, keep the area clean and allow it to rest until fully healed. If the condition becomes severe, causing significant pain, redness, and swelling, it is recommended to contact a doctor for proper treatment.
